My learned ability to throw away a recent piece of writing took work. Precious is what new words feel like. Joy because they somehow showed up, but much of it — even with extensive editing — is crap.
There is a time and a place to hunker down and edit the hell out of the idea because there is a good story hiding there somewhere, but there is also a time to stop and throw it away.
The point of the above direction and these three unrelated prompts is to work on your “turn on writing” muscle. It’s ok if the result is tossed in the garbage; the point was to start.
